Liver Transplantation

Course Description

We will discuss various aspects of liver transplantation in the acute alcoholic hepatitis population. Topics will include selection, contraindications, listing criteria, ethical considerations and follow-up after liver transplantation.

Objectives

  • Determine if a patient with severe alcoholic hepatitis is appropriate for consideration of liver transplantation and discuss current experience with transplantation for acute alcoholic hepatitis
  • Recognize and assess the indications and contraindications for liver transplantation in acute alcoholic hepatitis patients
  • Discuss the various stakeholder perspectives in transplantation for acute alcoholic hepatitis
