Surgical Oncology in the AYA Population

Course Description

This course is designed for the learner to stay updated on current trends, practice guidelines and consensus of experts in the surgical treatment of oncology patients. At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Review current trends, practice guidelines, and learn the consensus of experts relevant to surgical oncology
  • Follow established guidelines for diagnosis and care of patients
  • Offer available current options for clinical research protocols to cancer patients

Topics Include:

  • Diagnosis and treatment of common cancers in the Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) population
  • Multidisciplinary approaches to reducing side effects related to cancer diagnosis
  • Surgical interventions that optimize outcomes and survivorship in the AYA population
  • Shared decision making in fertility preservation in the AYA population (ETHICS)
